Forget radishes!

If you want to start growing vegetables, I think courgettes are the ones to choose. People always advise that you start with radishes as they grow so fast…but I’ve never really had much success with them and I think they’re an acquired taste too, so courgettes is what I would advise to start off with. You get to see the plants transform from a large seed into a small plant with two big leaves and this then sprout more that grow into stems. When you plant it out and look after it, it soon turns into a giant and starts producing its fruit…and lots of them too. I’ve got three plants in the garden at the moment and every other day or so I get about 5 courgettes from them. I think they’re the bet vegetable to grow by far.
