Pants Hang Low

I Hate

Now this is something that’s bugged me for years and I still have no understandng of the phenomena. Why do so many young guys wear their trousers so low? Sometimes so low that they have to stand with their legs wide apart to keep their trousers on, or alternatively hold the trousers up by the zipper/button area , which makes them look like they’re desparate for a pee.

Over the past few years the waist band has just been getting lower and lower and the look more and more ridiculous. There are a few theories knocking around as to where this look originated, but a general consensus is that prisons have the answer. Whether it’s because prisoners aren’t allowed to wear belts, or loose low hung trousers were a sign of availability - Hip Hop artists adopted the look to signal toughness, intimidation and rebellion against authority and for some reason this look quickly made it’s way to the streets and became cool.
