Spelling Mistakes

I Hate

I’m not great at spelling and do confess on relying on the spell checker feature within all the software I use. I also sometimes don’t know, for instance, whether it should be program or programme. In fact I’ve got a new client who makes wedding stationery and I’m constantly spelling the word stationery with an ‘a’ as in ’stationary’ - which I’m sure does her head in.

I just got sent an email via my company website [I'm a freelance web designer] from a woman selling her services as a copy writer. I read the email thoroughly but was disappointed and annoyed to find that she had around 10 mistakes within her copy.

That’s not a good advert for her skills.

Here are some examples of her mistakes, mostly missing apostrophes:

“all the fine design youve slaved over won’t do the selling”

“Someone whos written a book on how to write good English”

“I know youll want your clients to get the full benefit of the site youre designing for them”

“If their site doesnt sell your clients will blame it on you”

“someone wholl even save your clients the hassle”

I did think that maybe it was my email software that had stripped out all the apostrophes, but if that’s the case it was being selective with only these words. Anyway, she’s not alone.
